RE: Canadian Rockies/

An interesting place to stop for the night is at the visitor centre at the Columbia Icefield. It is only a parking lot but the views are fantastic. Very few people around once the centre is closed. Only eight RVs in the lot the night we stoped. The RV lot is the one on the left as you enter the parking area, a sign is posted and tells you about parking, cost is about $10. Some fairly level spots on the upper side of the lot.

RE: Canadian Rockies/

With the size of OP's unit he will have to watch out which roads he takes in Montana. Parts of the Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier Park are closed to large units. From West Glacier to East Glacier he will need to travel on Highway 2. From East Glacier it is not recommended to take large units on Highway 49 to Kiowa, or 89 from Kiowa to St Mary. The recommended route is to take Highway 2 to Browning, then the Duck Lake Road and Route 464 to Babb then south to St Mary.

RE: Going to the Sun Road in Glacier Natl Park

Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet(including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Sun Point parking area. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop. Large vehicles can drive around the south side of the park on Hwy 2.

RE: Going to the Sun Road in Glacier Natl Park

The upper road will be open for hikers and bicyclists as far as signs are posted. During road winterization, hikers and bicyclists are not allowed beyond posted areas due to hazards from heavy equipment operating on the roadway. Throughout the fall, Sun Road work will continue as weather permits; therefore, hikers and bicyclists may also experience short delays at work sites. Work zones will be posted as necessary. Hikers and bicyclists should also be alert for gravel and rocks on the roadway.
This set closure allows park personnel to prepare the alpine portion of the Sun Road for the winter. Park Superintendent Chas Cartwright noted winterization of the upper road involves removal of guard rails and other removable barriers in at least 15 avalanche zones as well as removal of all signs, displays, trash cans, installation of snow poles and final culvert/drain cleaning.

RE: US and Canadian Duties on Alcohol

I crossed on the ferry the other day from Victoria to Port Angeles. We did a pre-clearance in Victoria. The only questions asked were if we had any lamb or goat meat, citrus fruit, and was our dog food in it's original bag, we had US made dog food. On the US side we were asked what was the purpose of our trip, and how long were we going to be in the country. We are now in St Regis Montana.

Interesting, "purpose of laws is to state them clearly so that people can understand them." Then I guess we don't need lawyers.

Canada may be a small country with a small population, however the US is a smaller country in area than Canada. MM why not just stay home and drink your wine.

RE: US and Canadian Duties on Alcohol

Why is it a Canadian trick? I have been ask when I entered the US, how much alcohol, what meat and vegtables, what dog food, if you are going to cross the border have an idea what you are carrying. If you give a vague answer or a smart answer you will have problems.

RE: Price Of Diesel in Nova Scotia & New Brunswick

At least in Canada you can use your $US, try using $CND in US. The best thing to do is use the currency of the country that you are visiting.
